However, the lead/acid batteries require monthly maintenance. I check the level of electrolyte and fill with distilled water as needed and measure the specific gravity of each cell. It takes about a half hour per month. I also clean the tops of the batteries with a solution of baking soda and water to keep them free of acid. Every few months I take a close look at all the battery connections. After two years, I've only had two connections build up any corrosion and it was easy to clean off. Of course the original car was 23 years old when I started this project so now it's 26 years old but I've been lucky. I've replaced the latch on the glove box door, two tires and one battery. The brakes were new when I started. So, I've really had good luck. Not much maintenance on my electric vehicle in two years of daily driving. Hello Luis,
